About Napps
Serving East Texas Since 1957

Roy L. Napps founded Roy Napps Air Conditioning in Longview in 1957, running it from home with his wife Pauline in the office. Nearly seven decades later the company is still owned and run by the family, from a 23,000 square foot facility on Cotton Street, and still doing the same thing: designing, installing and servicing systems that keep East Texas comfortable.

A Longview Company, Not a Franchise

Napps Cooling, Heating & Plumbing has been in Longview since 1957. That is not a marketing line about heritage — it is the reason the company works the way it does. When Roy Napps started, packaged air conditioning equipment as we know it did not exist. Every system had to be load calculated by hand and assembled component by component: blowers, coils, pumps, compressors, expansion valves and piping, selected so the finished system was actually balanced. That engineering habit is still how we approach a job today, which is why we size on a calculation rather than matching whatever was there before.

The business was incorporated as Napps Industries, Inc. as it grew, and since 1975 it has been owned and operated by Eddie G. Napps, Roy’s son, who was mentored through every part of the company from his teens and went on to the University of Texas at Austin. In early 2012 Napps added a fully staffed plumbing division, so that a customer with a problem sitting between the trades did not have to call two contractors and wait for them to agree whose job it was.

What We Do

Residential, commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration across North East Texas, plus a full plumbing division and in-house sheet metal fabrication. Holding both a Texas HVAC licence and a Texas plumbing licence is unusual for a company this size, and it is the single most practical thing about us: one call covers cooling, heating, plumbing and refrigeration.

Our Cotton Street Facility

Our base of operations is a 23,000 square foot facility on Cotton Street in Longview. Very little of what a service company does needs a building that size, which tells you something about the engineering side of the business.

  • Corporate offices
  • Compressor rebuild area
  • Professional engineering department
  • Sheet metal duct fabrication area
  • Metal fabrication and welding shop
  • Painting facility with updraft paint booth
  • Assembly and testing facility for products
  • Training, inventory, shipping and receiving areas

How We Work

Upfront flat-rate pricing, agreed before anyone starts. Diagnosis before recommendation. And an honest answer when a repair is not worth making on ageing equipment, even though the repair is the easier sale. We would rather give you the arithmetic — repair cost, likely spend over the next two years, and replacement price — and let you decide.

Our Google rating is 4.8 stars from 229 reviews. We would rather show you the real number than claim a perfect one.

Services Across East Texas

Four divisions under one licence holder, which is the whole point of the way this company is built.

About Napps — Common Questions

What people ask before calling us for the first time.

How long has Napps been in business?

Since 1957. Roy L. Napps founded Roy Napps Air Conditioning in Longview that year, and the company has been family owned and operated continuously since. Eddie G. Napps, his son, has owned and run it since 1975.

No. We are independently owned and based in Longview, at the same address for decades. That matters more than it used to, because a great many local HVAC names now belong to national roll-ups. When you call us you are dealing with the company that does the work.

Yes. We added a fully staffed plumbing division in early 2012, and we hold both a Texas HVAC licence and a Texas plumbing licence. It is genuinely useful on the problems that sit between the trades, where separate contractors often spend more time establishing responsibility than fixing anything.

Longview and the surrounding East Texas counties — Gregg, Harrison, Upshur, Rusk, Smith, Wood, Cass, Panola, Marion, Morris and beyond. The service area page lists every town with its own page.

Yes. Texas licensed HVAC under TACLA 72668C, with licensed Texas plumbers on the plumbing side, and fully insured. We are also a Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer, NATE certified and an ACCA member.

Yes, and it is part of the company history. Napps has designed and manufactured specialty refrigeration equipment, including large explosion-proof package chillers and control room systems, and our Longview facility includes a professional engineering department, sheet metal fabrication and a welding shop.
