Sewer Camera
Inspection in Longview, TX

A blocked drain that has been cleared three times is not telling you it needs clearing a fourth time. A camera answers the question that repeated cabling never will: whether you have a maintenance problem, a root mass at a joint, or a broken pipe — three situations with very different price tags and no way to tell them apart from above ground.

Recurring Blockages

If a line has blocked more than once in a year, the camera is cheaper than the third clearing — and it is the only way to know why it keeps happening.

Root Intrusion

Longview has mature pine and oak everywhere. Roots find hairline defects in older lines and grow inside them. The camera shows how far it has gone.

Sewer lines are almost never covered by a standard home inspection, and replacing one is a five-figure surprise. Worth an hour before you buy.

What a Camera Actually Tells You

Four findings, four different conversations. Without a camera all four look identical from your bathroom.

Roots at a joint ▾

The most common finding in older Longview neighbourhoods. Roots enter through a hairline gap at a joint or a small crack, then thrive on what is inside. Cabling cuts them back and the line runs freely again — for a while. The camera tells you how many joints are affected and how badly, which decides whether you are managing this with periodic jetting or replacing a section.

Hydro Jetting →

A section that has settled so the line no longer runs downhill continuously. Water and solids sit in the low point rather than flowing through, so it blocks repeatedly no matter how often it is cleared. This is the finding that explains a line nobody can seem to fix, and no amount of cabling will change it — the pipe has to be re-laid.

Pipe Repair →

Older cast iron and clay lines crack, and ground movement offsets joints so the two halves no longer line up. Both catch debris and both let soil in. The camera shows exactly where and how bad, and because the head can be located from the surface we can mark the spot so the excavation is a hole rather than a trench.

Pipe Repair →

Sometimes the good news. If the line is structurally sound and simply coated, hydro jetting restores it to full diameter and you have a maintenance item rather than a repair bill. Knowing that is worth the inspection on its own — it is the difference between budgeting for a jetting visit and worrying about replacing a sewer line.

Hydro Jetting →

What the Camera Distinguishes

All four produce the same symptom from inside the house.

Finding What It Means Remedy
Grease or scale coating Maintenance issue Hydro jetting
Roots at joints Recurring, manageable Jetting, or section replacement
Belly holding water Structural, will keep blocking Re-lay the section
Crack or offset joint Structural, worsening Excavate and repair
Collapse Line is failed Replacement

How an Inspection Works

About an hour, and you watch the screen with us.

1
Access the Line

Usually through an existing cleanout. If there is not one, we discuss the options before starting.

2
Camera Run

The head is fed through the line while we watch. You watch too — this is not a report you receive later and take on trust.

3
Locate and Mark Findings

Anything significant gets located from the surface and marked, with depth, so excavation is minimal if it is needed.

4
Explained and Recorded

We tell you what it is, how urgent, and what the options cost. Findings recorded so you have them.

When a Camera Is Worth It

Six situations where an inspection saves more than it costs.

🔁
The same line has blocked more than once The clearest case. A third clearing costs more than finding out why it keeps happening.
🏡
You are buying a house Sewer lines are excluded from most standard home inspections, and replacement is a five-figure item.
🌳
Mature trees near the sewer run Pine and oak roots find any defect. If your line is older and the trees are big, it is worth knowing.
🏚️
The house is older than about 1970 Cast iron and clay lines of that era are at or past their service life, and they fail gradually rather than suddenly.
🚽
Multiple fixtures backing up together That points at the main line rather than any one fixture. Worth looking before clearing blindly.
👃
Sewer odour with no obvious source Can indicate a break allowing gases to escape before they reach the vent.

What We Find Most Often Here

🌲
Pine and oak roots Longview has a lot of mature trees, and roots seeking moisture find the smallest defect in an older line.
🍳
Grease in kitchen and main lines Coats the pipe wall over years, narrowing it until an ordinary amount of debris blocks it.
🏗️
Settlement and bellies Clay soil movement lets sections settle, creating low points where water and solids sit rather than flow.
🕰️
Ageing cast iron and clay Cracks, offset joints and internal corrosion in lines that have been in the ground fifty years or more.

Sewer Camera Inspection Questions

What people ask before booking an inspection.

How much does a sewer camera inspection cost? ▾

It is a flat fee, and on a line that keeps blocking it usually costs less than the next clearing would. The value is that it converts an open-ended series of clearings into a decision: either the line is sound and needs periodic maintenance, or there is a structural problem and you can plan for it. Either answer is worth more than another cable run.

We would strongly suggest it, particularly on an older property. Standard home inspections do not include the sewer line, so a failed or root-infested line is exactly the kind of thing that surfaces a month after closing as a five-figure surprise. An hour of camera work before you buy either gives you peace of mind or gives you something concrete to negotiate with.

Root intrusion and where it is entering, grease and scale coating the walls, cracks and offset joints, collapsed sections, and bellies where the line has settled so water no longer flows through. It also shows the pipe material and general condition, which tells you a lot about what to expect over the next decade. All of those look identical from inside the house.

It is much easier with one, and most houses have one. Where there is not, access is sometimes possible by pulling a toilet or through a roof vent, though that adds time and is not always practical. We will discuss the options before starting rather than surprising you with them.

Yes. The camera head transmits a signal that can be tracked from the surface, so we can mark the position and depth of anything significant. That matters a great deal if excavation follows — it is the difference between digging a targeted hole and trenching along a guess.

You watch it live with us, which is the part most people find genuinely useful, and we record the findings. If you need documentation for a property negotiation or an insurance matter, tell us when booking and we will make sure it is captured in a form that serves that purpose.
