Sizing means working out the total connected load, the length of the run, every fitting and elbow along it, and confirming the meter can supply the total. Adding a new appliance to an existing line without redoing that calculation is how you end up with a range that will not reach full output when the water heater fires.

It depends on how far the line has to run, what size it needs to be for the load, whether any of it is underground, and how accessible the route is. Permitting is included in what we quote.
